Monthly Favourites | January 2015

It's fair to say that this months favourites is extremely beauty based! January has been fairly busy and for most of it, I was sick, which meant not seeing Gerard Way in London which was booked months ago for the boyfriend's Birthday... not the greatest start to the year!

Not all was bad and these little things certainly helped me through! Oh the power of makeup!

First up we have Estee Lauder's Double Wear concealer. This was quite possibly the best thing I purchased this month. I've always struggled with concealers, I hate the cakey make up look they can give but with this, well, this is just utterly flawless. A little goes a long way with this product, you do not need a lot to achieve a flawless look. It's very pricey at £21.50 but in my opinion, absolutely worth the money.

This was obviously going to be chucked in here! This was my first review of the year and I'm still loving it! Read the review for my thoughts and opinions on Jeffree Star's liquid lipsticks

Seventeen are an amazing brand for the price of their products, this highlighter is absolutely amazing! It is a 3 way highlighter. You can use it to prime your face before foundation, add it to your foundation or you can use it just to highlight which I like to do. You do not need a lot of this product to see that it is working, the only downside to this product is the pump, it dispenses out way too much and you end up wiping loads off of your hand, which is such a waste and a shame! Other than that it is a great little product and at £5.99 it is a steal!

Next up are two of my new favourite make up brushes! The first is the MAC 217 blending brush, I use this to blend in my concealer and the foundation around my eyes. It does a fantastic job at blending flawlessly and leaving no brush marks. Again, pricey at £19 but it is a great little brush that I can see continuing to use for a really long time.

My second favourite brush to use this month is Kat Von D's foundation brush. This came in an amazing 5 piece brush set that I purchased in December on the Sephora website. Unfortunately they have sold out! But great news that Sephora now delivers to the UK, right?! I re ordered the beauty blenders I usually use but something was different about them, they were extremely hard and was taking the foundation off of my face rather than blending it. I remembered I had purchased this and decided to give it ago and I'm glad I did, I can't think of anything else I would use! This brush is insane and they need to make more, even sell it singly! It blends in the foundation so well and leaves no brush marks, it is so soft and holds it shape extremely well even after cleaning.

Two rings that I am loving this month is this small silver ring from Regal Rose and this beautiful blue sandstone ring from Indigo Black.

Everybody knows who Regal Rose are and they do such amazing jewelry! This lovely little piece is so delicate and just looks stunning, it is on sale now for £20!

Indigo Black are a little company I found on Instagram, the day I found them I had to buy something from them! Their jewelry is beautiful and the quality is amazing for such a low price. The sandstone ring was only £8.50! Very beautiful indeed and I receive some wonderful comments on the piece too!

And last but definitely not least is this magnificent film!

If you have not seen this film yet go and see it! It is an incredible film about Stephen Hawking and it is just utterly inspiring! It's very sad, joyful but most of all very motivating in a strange way. He has achieved a lot, so much, even at a young age, my age when he was diagnosed with the disease and it just makes you think, someone has achieved so much with such a horrendous thing to go through every single day then you can achieve anything you put your mind to, anything you want to do!

Review | Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick

First post of 2015 is a good one! With this particular product you must believe the hype!

When Jeffree Star stated that he was releasing a range of lipstick products, the little MySpace girl in me was beyond excited. While apart of me really wanted to buy the bundle pack of the three lipsticks I was in the midst of quitting my job and looking to live quite cheaply, so splurging out on makeup products is a big deal and a thing I have to really think over. While I love all three of the colours he has released I felt 'Redrum' (red) was very suited to my style as I own thousands of red lipsticks (God damn you MAC)!

Okay, so the packaging is beyond cute! Neon pink with cute gold stars! beautiful! The bottle itself shocked me, I didn't think it would be this big, you get a lot of product for a cheap price. It's so handy and easy to fit in your handbag, although, you don't really need to take it anywhere as one application in the morning is all you need, yes really!

The lovely thing about this product is that it applies wet but dries matte and boy do I mean matte! The texture is so odd, it feels like you're applying water! The product doesn't really have a smell, which would have been a nice little extra! It stays beautiful and doesn't look drying on the lips, which is great as I have super dry lips! The product states that it dries in 60 seconds, which it doesn't, I would say around 3-5 minutes before it completely dries, where you can press your lips and no product will transfer. That is probably the only teeny tiny little flaw I can find with this product, which isn't really a flaw!

The applicator is better than what I thought it was going to be. When I first saw it I was thinking "great, like a lip gloss" which I can't stand, but it was easy to use! I still used a lip brush to really define the lips and this is why it's great that it doesn't dry so fast as I think I (and many other people) would find it very difficult to get that sharp lip line. You don't need anything to enhance this product, I wore a lip balm while making up my face then wiped it off with a make up wipe and applied this straight on. It is VERY pigmented and a little truly does go a long way!

The day I got it me and boyfriend were going out for a meal so I thought I would put the product to the ultimate test! That meant, drinking with no straw, eating a full meal and kissing! I was absolutely amazed! Little product was coming off and it didn't affect the look at all. I kept looking in my pocket mirror to see and every time I looked it just looked the exact same as that first application in the morning! What is so mind blowing is that it is so easy to take off at the end of the day. I used a regular make up wipe and it came off as if it was just any other lip product. Which it isn't, this is one of a kind and you need it in your life.

Summary...

  • £13 for UK customers here (so cheap!)
  • 'Redrum' keeps selling out so check every day!
  • One application needed to last all day
  • New colours coming in March!
  • You just need this lipstick.

Review: NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer

Ever since Dainty Doll has discontinued (well, in my Boots store it has!) I've been on the hunt for a new foundation. It's been very difficult. I have super pale and dry skin and finding a foundation when you're pale is an absolute pain, especially in drugstores, as some of you may know.
I've always wanted to try NARS products but it isn't sold where I am and buying it offline without testing the colour just seems abit silly to me, especially because of the price! It would be an absolute waste if it was wrong.
A few weeks ago I managed to find a Sephora in France and just fell in love with the place. I found the NARS station and was super excited! I don't like full coverage foundations as my skin isn't that bad and I find they can be really cakey and show my dry skin. I always mixed my foundation with moisturizer so the tinted moisturizer really interested me. It was the only foundation products of the brand that I tested and it really was just love at first sight. It was a perfect match and I loved the texture and the glow of the formula. It's SPF 30 which is amazing and pretty high for a foundation. They also have a great range of shades and also describe what colour undertones it has. My shade is Terre-Neuve and it is the lightest with neutral pink undertones.

That night I used it as we were going for dinner and cocktails and I was extremely impressed! It's very lightweight and I'm still able to use my concealer under it and for it all to blend together beautifully. A little does go a long way with this product and it leaves a wonderful glow on your skin. It also photographs lovely and makes you look very healthy and glowing! I'm completely impressed with how long it lasts, I didn't remove my makeup the night before (bad I know!) and it was still in place the next morning!
The only downside I could possibly see is if you have oily skin this product may not work for you. I get a touch oily on my forehead and around my nose but just apply powder. You could possibly just pop a powder compact in your bag!

I'm so happy this product exists and will continue using it as my main foundation, I love it even more than my Dainty Doll foundation. I don't think I could ever go back or go to another foundation. Now that I know my shade, I can now happily buy it online! I bought it for 38€ and its £28 on the NARS website which I will happily pay out for such an all round wonderful product. I highly, highly recommend this product to anyone and everyone!

What NARS products do you have? I want to expand my collection! xo

Review: Kelly Osbourne MAC Lipstick in Dodgy Girl

I know this is probably a bit of a late review, but I love this lipstick a lot and you could say, it's well tested! I bought the Kelly Osbourne lipstick in Dodgy Girl a couple of months ago, I thought it was out of stock, as it is a limited edition range but I managed to purchase it from the official UK MAC site!

You can still get this lipstick and her range from Ebay and Depop! A little bit more expensive but so worth it!
It is a matte lipstick but like a lot of the matte lipsticks from MAC it is surprisingly moisturizing! I have terrible chapped lips all the time and I exfoliate before putting on lipsticks and this glides on beautifully. I like to pat the lips with tissue after applying the product, then apply the lippie again and pat. It works really nice. The only downside to this lipstick, I feel, is that it lasts a really long time but it tends to turn a pinky colour and stains your lips rather than staying purple. I found myself re-applying it through out the day/night, a lot more than what I normally would when wearing a MAC lipstick!

It retails at £16.50 which is a standard price for MAC cosmetics! Like I said, it will unfortunately be a little more now when buying from sellers online.

All in all, I love this product and re-applying it isn't the biggest deal in the world! Also, it matches my hair! (review on this hair dye coming soon!)

Did you get anything from this range?

Review: Sleek true colour lipstick and eau lala liner

I've had this review written down for ages and finally getting around to it! This combination of lipstick and liner is just the best and so cheap!

A few months ago I was looking for a dark red/purple vampy lipstick but was having no luck! Even looked in MAC and just nothing stood out! I've been absolutely loving Taylor Momsen's look for ages and wanted to recreate her fabulous look!

Sleek had been gone for a few months from my local Superdrug and I was so bummed! It's such an amazing makeup line! For some reason I just went into there and there it was! Sleek makeup back in my life! I noticed first the liner, Sleek Eau La La Liner in Raisin but was afraid it would be very drying on my lips, so just picked up Sleek lipstick true colour in Cherry too and just thought about mixing them! Best combination ever! I'm so glad I did it! Doing it this way creates an amazing vampy colour and it lasts so long!
I wore it to a family get together, we had Chinese food and a lot to drink and I only had to reapply the lipstick twice! Result! What's even better is that the liner can also be used on your eyes! They have loads of colours and I would love to stock up on more! I really recommend this combination or even your own using Sleek makeup! It is such an amazing brand, amazing quality for an amazing price!

It cost £4.99 for each product, that's just under £10 for and amazing colour! Can't get any better than that!

My favourite spot fighting products!

Ever since I've hit my 20's spots have been a real pain for me! I've always had pretty good skin as a teenager, but lately spots have appeared and dry skin... great! Here are my favourite products to use when I get a break out;

Garnier Pure Active Exfo-Brusher Wash

I use this every day, I love the soft brush which really cleans deep and feels very refreshing afterwards. It's also a spot fighter and proves you can see results from day 1 (as most products claim) On its own, it's great, but it does need a little help to reduce those spots!  It's a great product for those who are lazy with ex-foliating your skin as it's all in one! It's a little bit pricey at £7.99 but I have seen products like these be a lot more expensive, I got this one on offer for £4, so just keep your eye out!

Clean & Clear Advantage Spot Treatment Gel

This is a new product I've tried this month and I love it! I usually use the Simple spot zapper, but I feel you need to use different products on your skin so it doesn't get used to one product.  This claims you can see results within 4 hours! For me, it wasn't 4 hours but I definitely saw an improvement the next morning. It says you can use it on top of makeup or under makeup, I haven't tried this as I don't like to wear makeup when I'm trying to fight off the little buggers! It really helps to reduce the size of  the spots and redness, its a great little product for on the go, small enough to keep in your bag. It retails at £4.59, I feel this is a good price as it does work and you do not need to use a lot!

Simple Spotless Skin Quick Fix Cleansing Wipes

This is another new product that I've added to my skincare routine. I felt I needed something better than just a makeup wipe for night time and these are a great alternative. They help fight spots but also remove makeup. 2 in 1. They smell lovely, and no harsh smell or chemicals as Simple always is! a lovely little product to use before bed time, I then apply the gel to wear over night. They retail at £3.85 but a great investment. In the UK Boots usually have a 3 for 2 sale on Simple products a lot of the time, just use your 'smarts' and you can find good bargains! I also like to use the Simple Spotless Skin Cleansing Pads but I don't want to overload my face with too many products! But these are a great deep cleaning pad that actually does show great results in getting rid of spots!

Review: 17 Va Va Voom Mascara

I'm a huge fan of full long lashes. My eyes, I feel, are my best feature and I love enhancing them anyway I can, usually by mascara. I've used Maybelline's Colossal Mascara since I was about 14/15 and felt like trying out a new product. I didn't want to try anything out too expensive as I know cheap products work just as well, I spotted all kinds of different mascaras on the 17 counter, but I liked the description of the Va Va Voom product (and the name is fun too!)

It says. 'Dramatically volumised lashes with carbon black pigments. Extreme volume building brush for a false lash effect.' Sounds amazing! and to be fair it's pretty spot on! I was a bit afraid of the brush to begin with because it was very thick, but I used the little trick of wiping the access pigment off in a tissue before apply and ended up with beautiful, thick lashes!
I use about three coats to gain the 'false lash effect'
This would be a great alternative to using false lashes for a night out when you're in a rush to get ready! The brush really grips onto your lashes and grabs each one. The tip is easy to use to get to the outer and inner lashes. This mascara will last all day and night, it stays put pretty well, I wore it to work one night and it smudges a little bit under my eyes but nothing too noticeable, plus what mascara doesn't?!

I'm so impressed with this product and completly converted! I didn't think I would ever love another mascara other than my trusty Colossal but Va Va Voom has completely stolen my heart!
It retails at £6.29 at Boots stores and online and is a complete bargain! (also cheaper than Colossal!) Finally a product that doesn't lie and does exactly what it says on the tin!

What's your favourite mascara? xo

How Much is my Face Worth?

I found an interesting tag on Youtube last night called 'How Much is my Face Worth?' You basically add together the makeup you use on a daily basis. I thought it would be a fun little blog post to do and see how much my products actually cost all together! I do use some expensive products but also bog standard drugstore products too, so the end result will be interesting!

So here's the list of the products (and prices) I use on a daily basis!

(In order)

Simple Replenishing Rich Moisturiser - £3.99
E45 Cream - £2.39
Dainty Doll Liquid Foundation '003' - £22
Sleek New Skin Revive Foundation 'Shell 627' (Review soon) - £7.99
Sleek Correct and Conceal Palette 02 (Review soon) - £7.99
Collection 2000 Illuminating Touch Concealer - £4.99
Sleek Face Contour Kit 'Light' - £6.49
Dainty Doll Blusher '002 My Girl' - £11.50
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder '001 Transparent' - £3.99
E.L.F Eyelid Primer 'Sheer' - £1.95
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish 'Lightscapade' Hayley Williams Collection - £22
Barry M Blink Waterproof Precison Eyeliner - £4.59*
Seventeen Va Va Voom Mascara 'Blackest Black' (Review soon) - £6.29
Maybelline Volum' Express The Colossal Mascara '100% Black' £7.19

and if I'm feel extra sassy that day I will wear a lipstick, more than likely a MAC.
Today was;

MAC lipstick in ' Snob' - £15

Total: £128.35

Holy cow! I never thought it would be that much! I guess you don't realise how much things are when you use them every day!
Some products I do buy with a points system we have here in the UK and I will only ever splash out on expensive products if I have the extra money. I think it's nice to treat yourself when you've earned extra money (:

Leave a comment below telling me how much your face is worth! Or if you're going to or already have done a blog post on it, leave a link below so I can be nosey!

Happy Wednesday! xo

Katy Perry Killer Queen makeup video

Hey dolls!

A few days ago I first saw Katy's new ad for her new fragrance 'Killer Queen' on the TV. I personally love the ad and can't stand the whole drama of "but Beyonce was a Queen in her video" blah blah blah, get over it, we can all be Queens!

The hair was amazing, and to be fair it did look like it was advertising some sort of hair product! But we can't blame Katy for having some amazing hair *cough* wigs!

I adored the makeup she had to complete the look, a very simple classic smokey eye with winged eyeliner and a red lip, here's my version in a video, hope you enjoy (:

Oh, and yes I have tried the 'Killer Queen' fragrance and I don't like it! ha! I'm going to stick to 'Purr'!

Within the next few weeks expect some Halloween looks! yay!

Review: Maybelline Baby Lips

I'm most likely a little bit slow on the hype of these lip balms but better late than never! I snagged the Intense Care balm out of the six to choose from.

This one appealed to me because of it's claims. It has SPF 20 which is always great to read! It also claims to hydrate for 8 hours and leave your lips feeling baby soft. Such high claims for a £2.99 product! I'll be honest, it's an okay product. It hydrates my lips just fine but not for 8 hours, it's a pretty ridiculous thing to expect seeing as we eat and drink through out the day! It did however leave my lips feeling baby soft after a few days, but then the affects wear off like all the other lip balms I have tried. But I will admit this is the best one I have tried, it tops my Simple lip balm by far! It glides on the lips easily, feels a tad watery compared to its solid appearance, but there's no pull on the lips when applying.

The packaging is so cute and colourful, and yellow is one of my favourite colours. It's a great product for £2.99 and I would recommend it, it's a great little wonder to keep in the bottom of your bag for those dry lips emergencies!

Apologies for the crummy photos, was a gloomy day!

Review: Barry M Confetti in Dolly Mixture

I'm really into nail polishes lately! I saw a new range in the Barry M section yesterday and was excited! They have a confetti range, I've never seen anything like it before but I guessed you just used it as if you would with a glitter polish. 'Dolly Mixture' caught my eye, with its multi coloured beauty! So I gave it a try.

I am so blown away! My expectations were not high at all because I've failed so many times with crummy glitter polishes where they just don't go on but this glided on beautifully! You just stroke it on like you would a normal block colour and it'll come out like this! I gave my nails two coats and it just looks amazing! It dries so fast too, I can't get over this product. It's only £3.99 aswel! Brilliant (:

Hayley Williams 'Still Into You' makeup!

Hey guys! I posted my first video, (kinda, I know I uploaded this last week but I turned into a time lapse instead because I hate my voice, you know like you hate your telephone voice? Yeah like that....)
I loved the makeup Hayley wore in the video, even though it was hard to see! I tried my best at re-creating it and here is the finished look!

I have more character makeup on the way! Including Edward Scissor Hands and Marceline the Vampire Queen!

P.S I also got my Paramore tickets today! They're coming to the UK, I am so excited!
